In 2 Peter 3, the apostle Peter addresses believers who were starting wonder why Christ had not yet returned and God’s promises had not yet been fulfilled. He gives them the reassurance they need, reminding them that God’s perspective on time is quite different to that of our own.

Peter’s words resonate with timeless truth for us today. In a world that demands instant gratification and quick results, we may find ourselves questioning God’s timing in various aspects of our lives – whether we’re waiting for an answer to prayer, longing for justice, or anticipating Christ’s return. Like the early Christians, we may wonder why God delays his promises.

Yet, Peter reminds us that God operates beyond our human understanding of time. His perspective is eternal, and his timing is perfect. God is not slow in fulfilling his promises; rather, what we see as a delay is really his patience and mercy towards us.

God’s ultimate desire is for all people to come to repentance and salvation. His delay in Christ’s return is not because he is indifferent or inactive, but because he desires to give every person an opportunity to turn to him in faith. His patience is a testament to his love and grace.

As we wait for Christ’s return, let us live with urgency in spreading the gospel and living out our faith boldly. Let us pray fervently for those who have not yet come to know Christ, knowing that God’s desire is for their salvation.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your perfect timing and your patience towards us. Help us to trust in your sovereign plan, especially when we struggle with waiting. Give us faith to believe in your promises and courage to live out our faith boldly while we wait for Christ’s return. May your love compel us to share the gospel with others, that they too may experience your grace and salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen
