One Sunday afternoon, while I was driving home, I heard a song on the radio. To this day, I cannot remember the name of the song, but when I parked in the garage, I stayed in the car. The song had deeply moved me. I wanted to know who the artist was immediately.
That is how I discovered the music of Matthew West, an American singer.
One of his latest songs is titled Don’t Stop Praying. It is a song I listen to over and over when I am worried, afraid, going through tough times or struggling with something. Today, I want to share it with you. The song begins like this:
What’s your impossible? Your “I need a miracle”?
What’s got you barely hanging by a single thread?
What looks so hopeless now? What weighs down your heart with doubt?
You beg for a breakthrough, but no sign of breakthrough yet.
When you’ve cried, and you’ve cried ‘til your tears run dry,
The answer won’t come, and you don’t know why.
And you wonder if you can bow your head even one more time.
Then comes the encouraging chorus:
Don’t stop praying
Don’t stop calling on Jesus’ name
Keep on pounding on Heaven’s door
And let your knees wear out the floor
Don’t stop believing
‘Cause mountains move with just a little faith
And your Father’s heard every single word you’re saying
So, don’t stop praying.
The song is a wonderful reminder to me that we must persist in prayer, no matter how discouraged we feel. Even when it seems like your prayers are not being answered, you can keep believing that God is listening. Your prayers do not fall on deaf ears. God hears you.
Do not stop praying. Do not stop believing. Do not stop believing that a miracle is waiting. Do not stop believing that there will be a way out.
Do not stop praying. Hold on to God. Don’t stop praying.
Prayer: Lord, thank you that you always listen to my prayers. Help me to keep talking to you, no matter how discouraged I feel. Amen
