A few weeks ago I read a story about Jubilation Magagule, a 25-year-old entrepreneur from Bushbuckridge. After starting his business, Torha Refreshing Water, with only R500 last year, it has grown so fast that this year he had been named one of the 100 young people for the South African Shining Stars Awards. When asked how he managed to do it, Jubilation replied: “I followed the principle of using what I have to obtain what I do not have.” Start-up capital was a challenge and Jubilation used the R500 he had to develop a product sample. He tested it with his target market. This gave him enough capital to produce 30 cases of 500 mℓ bottles. The rest is history.

Today, this principle still applies: Use what you have to obtain what you do not have. The advantage for us as believers is that we can consult God in our process. After all, he guides us through his Holy Spirit with supernatural wisdom, creativity, ideas and insight.

When the tabernacle had to be built, we read God’s words to Moses in Exodus 31: 1-5, “See, I have chosen Bezalel . . . and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills – to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts . . .”

God filled Bezalel with His Holy Spirit at a time when the Holy Spirit was not yet freely available to the people. This empowered him to design and make the beautiful designs.

After Jesus’ Ascension, God gave us the Holy Spirit as a gift. In Romans 8:11 we read: “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” Through his Spirit, we can be empowered with supernatural wisdom, creativity and insight.

Use what you have to obtain what you do not have. What is there that you would like to obtain? Your own business? A better marriage? A healthier lifestyle? Let us ask God to fill us with His Spirit. Doing this we will reach the goals much quicker and more effectively. God bless.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your Holy Spirit we receive as a gift. Fill me anew and guide me (name the area). Also help me to be obedient. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
