Pesalema 139:23-24SSO89SOBula ka mmadi wa Bibele

I was excited to upgrade to a new phone when my cell phone contract ended. For weeks, I compared phones until I finally decided on a phone that takes quality video clips and pictures.

Excited, I went home with my new phone with the promise that it would be activated by the next morning. Early the next morning, I took my first picture. To my shock, the quality was poor and blurry. Furthermore, when the first call came through, I could hardly hear the person on the other side of the phone. I was very disappointed. Something major was wrong.

Later that day, to my shock and utter embarrassment, I discovered that I placed the phone in the protective holder that I had bought the day before, but completely forgotten to remove the protective plastic around the phone – covering the camera and receiver! Needless to say, after the removal, I could hear the caller clearly and the picture quality was excellent.

Do you realise that we too sometimes struggle to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice or have a blurry perspective on life due to blockages in our lives? A blockage occurs in various forms. It can be an offensive attitude towards a friend who hurt you, anger or jealousy towards a colleague at work, bitterness or an unforgiving attitude towards a loved one or even disappointment with God, if he did not answer your prayers in the way you expected him to answer it.

Listen to Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:23-24: “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you; leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. Also in Psalm 139:23-24, the psalmist wrote: “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Let us ask the Holy Spirit to lead us continually to remove the “plastic” in our lives, so we can hear his voice clearly and see life with a new perspective. God bless.
