A new start … building on the right foundation

Once upon a time, a wise man built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods and winds ripped against the house, but the house did not collapse, because the foundation was built on a rock.
His neighbour, however, built his house on sand. When the rain came down, the floods and winds ripped against the house. It collapsed because the foundation was weak, as it was built on sand.
Let us read the story again:
Once upon a time, a wise family built their lives on God. The rain came down in the form of stress at work, opportunities to get involved with affairs outside of their marriage, financial difficulties and physical illnesses. When the “storms” came, this wise family went to God for guidance. Together, they sought his will for their lives. Because they built their lives on God as their foundation, this family did not collapse – they grew even closer to God and each other during these tough times.
The family’s neighbours called themselves “Christians”, but they did not make God a priority in their lives. The rain came down in the form of stress at work, opportunities to get involved with affairs outside of their marriage, financial difficulties and physical illness. Not only did the couple step into the trap of temptation, the pressure drove them apart and caused them to collapse, as they built their lives on the wrong foundation.
Listen again to the words in Psalm 127:1: “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
How strong is the foundation of your life? Will you remain standing when the storms come against your life? Let us choose to make God the foundation of our lives today. God bless.
