Zechariah 14
The day when God will judge the people
1The day_of_the_Lord is very near. Everything that the people of Jerusalem own will not belong to them anymore. Other people will take it and divide it among them while they are still in the city of Jerusalem.
2The Lord will call all the nations to come together to make war_against Jerusalem. They will defeat the city and take everything out of the houses and rape the women. They will catch half of the people in the city and take them away. The other half of the people will stay in the city.
3But then the Lord will make war_against those nations as He has done before. 4On that day the Lord will stand on the Mount_of_Olives that is east of Jerusalem, and the Mount_of_Olives will break in 2 halves. One half of the mountain will move towards the north and the other half will move to the south. Then there will be a big valley from east to west. 5The valley will be up to the town of Azel. The people of Jerusalem will run away as they fled when there was an earthquake in the time of Uzziah, king_of_Judah. Then the Lord my God will come and his angels will be with Him.
6On that day the sun will not come up and shine in the morning, but it will not be cold. 7It will stay daytime, and there will be no day and night. It will always be light, even when it is night time. Only the Lord knows how this can happen.
8On that day there will be fresh water coming out of Jerusalem. One half of the water will flow to the Dead Sea and the other half will flow to the big sea. The water will flow in the summer and winter. 9The Lord will be King of all the earth. He alone will be the Lord and everyone will worship Him only. 10The whole land will be flat lands with no mountains, from the town of Geba to the town of Rimmon, south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem will be higher and it will stay in the same place, from the Benjamin Gate to the place where the First Gate was, and from the Corner Gate and from the Tower of Hananel to the king's wine-presses. 11The people of Jerusalem will live safely and the enemies will never again destroy the city.
12The Lord will punish the people who came to fight against Jerusalem. He will make them sick with a very bad disease. The flesh of their bodies will become bad and rot while they are alive. Their eyes will rot in their heads and their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13-15The same will happen to their horses, mules, camels, donkeys and all the animals in the camp of the enemies. The Lord will confuse them all on that day. They will grab and kill each other. The people of Judah will come and help the people of Jerusalem to fight. And the people of Jerusalem will take everything from all the nations around them. They will take a lot of gold and silver and clothes.
16The people of the nations who made war_against Jerusalem will not all be dead. All the people who are still_alive will come to Jerusalem every year and they will bow to the King, the Lord who rules over all. They will also celebrate the Feast_of_shelters. 17If the people from any nations on earth do not come to Jerusalem to worship the King, then their land will not get any rain. God is the Lord who rules over all. 18If the people of Egypt do not come, then the Lord will punish them as He punishes all the other people who do not come to celebrate the Feast_of_shelters. 19This is how the Lord will punish the people of Egypt and all the other people if they do not come to celebrate the Feast_of_shelters. They will get no rain.
20On that day people will write these words on the bells of the horses: ‘Consecrated to the Lord.’ The cooking pots in the temple will also be consecrated, like the bowls at the altar. 21All the pots in Jerusalem will be consecrated to the Lord who rules over all. Everyone who wants to sacrifice will come and they will take some of the pots and cook meat for their meal-offerings. There will be no Canaanite people in the temple who buy and sell special pots and bowls.
