Some people do bad things to poor people
1Job said:
‘I wish that the Most High God would
choose a day when He will judge all people.
The people who know that God will judge everyone
are waiting for that day to come
but that day does not come.
2Some people take other people's land,
and they steal their sheep and goats and
let them feed with their own animals.
3They take donkeys from orphans,
and they keep the oxen of widows for themselves
because the widows owe them money.
4They don't let the poor people
get what they should get,
and people who have nothing have to hide.
5Poor people have to live like wild donkeys
and look for food in the desert,
for themselves and for their children.
6They must look for straw
in the field to eat,
and they must steal grapes that are left over
in the vineyards of people who do what is wrong.
7The poor people have to sleep naked,
without clothes, and they don't have
any blankets when it is cold.
8They get wet when it rains
in the mountains and have to look
for rocks where they can hide.
9People take the babies of widows
from their mothers' breasts,
as a pledge to pay for what their mothers owe.
10The poor people go naked,
they don't have clothes,
and they carry the wheat
of the rich people from their lands,
but they stay hungry.
11They press olives and
make olive oil when it is hot outside.
They trample grapes in the wine-press,
but they don't get anything to drink.
12Poor people, who are dying in the city,
complain and groan.
The people who are wounded
and full of sores cry and shout.
They ask God for help,
but God does not listen to them.
13Bad and sinful people don't like the light,
and they do not want people to see
what they are doing.
14Murderers get out of bed
before the sun comes up.
They kill people who can not help themselves,
they kill poor people and they steal
when it is dark.
15People who want to commit_adultery
wait until it gets dark.
They think no one will see them
and they put veils over their faces.
16Thieves who break into houses,
work at night and they hide by day,
they don't want to see the light.
17Bad people love the dark
like other people love the morning.
They are friends with all
the bad things that happen at night.’
It will be bad for sinners
18‘These bad people are like foam
that floats on the water.
God has cursed their land,
and no one wants to walk near their vineyards.
19Sinners disappear into the grave
and the underworld melts like snow
and disappears when it becomes hot.
20The mothers of the sinners forget them,
worms like to eat them,
and no one remembers them.
People who do bad things
will break like a stick
21because they have oppressed women
who could not have children
and they did not help widows.
22But God is stronger than powerful men.
They think that they are strong,
but they will die.
23God makes those bad people feel safe,
and they think that God will help them,
but God looks at everything they do.
24People who do things that are wrong
will be important for only
a short while, then they disappear.
God causes them to die like everyone else
and they are cut off like heads_of_wheat.
25This is true. If I have said something that is wrong,
show me what I have said that is not right.’
