We also want to look for him
1Their friends say:
‘Most beautiful of all women,
where did the man go,
the man that you love?
We will help you to find him.’
He went to his garden
2She says:
‘The man that I love went to his garden,
the herb garden. He went there to eat
like a deer. He went to the gardens
to pick some flowers.
3I belong to the man that I love,
and he is mine, he who is among the flowers.’
You are so beautiful
4He says:
‘My darling, you are as beautiful
as the town of Tirzah,
as beautiful as the city of Jerusalem.
You are as beautiful as an army with flags.
5Don't look at me.
Your eyes make me tremble.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
running down Mount Gilead.
6Your teeth are as white
as a flock of sheep ewes
after they have been washed.
Each ewe has twin lambs,
and all the ewes have lambs.
7Your cheeks are like pomegranates
behind your veil.
8The king has 60 wives
and 80 concubines
and so many young women
that no one can count them.
9But there is only one woman like you,
and you are my dove.
Her whole body is perfect.
She is the only daughter of her mother,
and her mother loves her a lot.
When the other young women see her,
they say she is happy.
The wives and concubines
of the king praise her.’
10Their friends say:
‘Who is that coming to us like a new day?
She is as beautiful as the moon,
as bright as the sun.
She is so beautiful that we start to tremble.’
11He says:
‘I went to the garden where the nuts grow,
to look at the green plants in the valley,
and to see if the vines are getting new leaves
and if there are flowers
on the pomegranate trees.
12I do not know what happened to me.
It was as if she made me ride
on the best war-chariots of my people.’
13Their friends say:
‘Shulammite woman, you must come back,
you must come back, you must come back.
We want to look at you.’
She says:
‘Why do you want to look at me?
I am the Shulammite woman.
Why do you want to look at me
when I dance in the camp of the soldiers?’
