*Psalms 61

₁O God, please listen when I pray,

and please give me what I ask.

₂I am very far from You,

but I call and ask You for help.

I am afraid and discouraged.

Please let me stand on a high rock

where I will be safe.

₃I ask this because

You have always protected me.

You were like a tower where

my enemies could not come.

₄Let me live with You forever,

and protect me like a hen protects

her chicks under her wings. Selah

₅O God, You heard when

I promised to give offerings to You.

You gave me a place with

the people who worship You.

₆Please let the king live

for a long time,

for many generations.

₇I pray that he will always

rule and be king and live near You.

Protect him with your love

and loyalty that never changes.

₈Then I will always sing

and praise your name,

and I will give the offerings that I

have promised every day.
