We are strong when God is with us
Tell the leader of the choir to play the same music as the song: ‘The flower of the covenant’. This is a song of David to teach the people. He wrote it when he had to fight against the Arameans of Mesopotamia and the land of Zobah and when Joab came back after he had killed 12 000 Edomites in the Salt Valley.
1O God, You have
pushed us away and broken us.
You were angry with us,
but please come back to us again.
2You made the earth tremble
and tear. It broke into pieces.
Please heal it and
put it back together again.
3You made your people suffer a lot.
You gave us a cup of wine
to drink that made us drunk.
4You put up a flag
to warn your people
to flee from our enemies. Selah
5Please put up your hand
and save us.
Please do what we ask and
set the people free that You love.
6God is in his temple and He has said:
‘I have defeated my enemies
and I will rejoice when I
divide the land of Shechem
and measure the Sukkoth Valley
and give it to my people.
7The land of Gilead is mine,
and the land of Manasseh belongs to Me.
The land of Ephraim is like
the helmet on my head.
The land_of_Judah is to Me
like a sceptre in the hand of a king.
8The land of Moab is like
a bowl where I wash my feet,
and the land of Edom is the place
where I throw down my shoes.
I am happy and shout
because I have defeated
the land of the Philistines.’
9Who will bring me
to the city with strong walls?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10O God, You have pushed us away.
You don't go with our soldiers
when we go to war.
11Please come and help us
fight against our enemies
because people can not help us.
12But if God is with us,
then we will be strong.
He will defeat and trample our enemies.
