Sinful people will disappear
Tell the leader of the choir to play the same music as the song: ‘Do not destroy’. This is a song of David.
1Rulers, do you rule people fairly?
Judges, are you fair
when you judge people?
2No, you always think of
how to do wrong,
and you plan to do cruel things
against the people in the land.
3These wicked people
were sinners when they came
from their mothers' wombs.
They did wrong and told lies
from the time that they were born.
4Everything they say is
like the poison of a snake,
like the poison of a viper
that doesn't want to hear when people
walk near him.
5They don't listen,
like a snake that can not hear
the music when someone wants to charm it.
6O God, break the teeth
in the mouths of those sinners.
Lord, pull out the sharp teeth
of those lions.
7Let them disappear like water
that flows away into the ground.
When they want to shoot their arrows,
let them miss and fail.
8Let them be like snails
that melt and disappear
on the road when they move.
Let them be like a child who dies
before he is born,
who never sees the sun.
9The Lord will make them disappear
faster than thorn-bushes
that burn under a pot of water,
where even the green branches burn out quickly.
10People who live in the right way
will be very happy when they see
how the Lord punishes
those who do wrong.
They will wash their feet
in the blood of the sinners.
11Then people will say:
‘Surely, the Lord rewards
people who are righteous.
There really is a God who
judges all the people on earth.’
