God will help people who have nothing
Tell the leader of the choir that this is a Psalm of David.
1Lord, please save me from bad people,
and protect me from cruel people.
2They make plans to do bad things,
and they always want to fight. Selah
3They say things that hurt other people.
Their words are dangerous
like the poison of snakes. Selah
4Lord, please protect me
from people who do wrong,
and from cruel people who
make plans to make me fall and die.
5Those proud people want to catch me,
and they have made a trap to get me. Selah
6I said to the Lord:
‘Lord, You are my God.’
Please listen to how I beg You.
7Lord my God,
You are strong and You will save me.
You protected me when there was war.
8Lord, please don't give
the sinful people what they want,
and don't let their plans succeed,
because then they will think they are important. Selah
9The people around me want to attack me.
Make all the bad things that they plan
against me happen to them.
10Let coals of fire fall on them,
and throw them into the fire,
into deep holes from which they
will never come out.
11Don't let people who
say bad things about other people
stay in the land.
Let bad things happen
to cruel people soon.
12I know that God will help poor people
when someone accuses them.
He will do what is right and fair
to people who can not help themselves.
13This is sure: The people
who are righteous will thank You,
and honest people will live with You.
