Job says he is sorry for what he has said
1Then Job said to the Lord:
2‘I know that You can do anything.
If You decide to do something, You can do it.
Nothing is impossible for You.
3You told me: “Job, you have spoken
about things that you do not know of.”
Yes, I was wrong. I said foolish things.
I spoke about things that I don't understand,
and about wonderful things that I don't know.
4You told me to listen.
You said You would ask me questions
and I must answer.
5I have heard what people say
about You, but now I have seen You.
6That is why I am ashamed
of what I have said. I am sorry.
I will lie down on the ash-heap.’
Job's 3 friends must give a burnt-offering
7After the Lord spoke to Job, He spoke to Eliphaz from the land of Teman and He said: ‘I am angry with you and your 2 friends because you have said things about Me that are not_true, but my servant Job said the right things about Me. 8You must now take 7 bulls and 7 sheep rams and go to my servant Job. You must sacrifice a burnt-offering for yourselves. My servant Job will then pray for you, because I will do what he asks Me, and I will not punish you for being foolish and saying things about Me that are not_true. My servant Job was right.’
9Then Eliphaz from the land of Teman and Bildad from Shuah and Zophar from Naamah did what the Lord told them and the Lord did what Job asked Him.
All is well with Job again
10After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord blessed him and He gave Job twice as much of everything as he had had before. 11All of Job's brothers and sisters, and the people who had known Job before, came to him and they ate with him in his house. They came to him and told him how sorry they were about the bad things that had happened to him, the things that the Lord had decided. They comforted him and each one of them gave Job a piece of silver and a golden ring.
12The Lord blessed Job and gave him more of everything than he had had before. He gave Job 14 000 sheep and goats, 6 000 camels, 2 000 cattle and 1 000 donkeys. 13He also had 7 sons and 3 daughters. 14He named his oldest daughter Jemimah, his 2nd daughter Keziah and his 3rd daughter Keren-Happuch. 15Job's daughters were the most beautiful of all the women in the land. Their father also gave them land when he gave land to their brothers.
Job dies
16After that, Job lived for another 140 years. He saw his descendants to the 4th generation. 17Job was an old man when he died.
