2 *Chronicles 27

₁Jotham was 25 years old when he became king and he was king in Jerusalem for 16 years. His mother's name was Jerusha. She was a daughter of Zadok. ₂Jotham did what the Lord loves. He lived like his father Uzziah, but he did not go into the temple like his father did. But the people of Israel did not stop doing bad things. ₃Jotham built the Upper Gate at the temple and he built many buildings at the wall of the Ophel hill. ₄He built towns in the hill_country of Judah. He also built cities with strong walls and towers in the forests. ₅He made war_against the king of the Ammonites and he defeated him. The Ammonites had to pay him 100 talents of silver and 10 000 cors of wheat and 10 000 cors of barley that year. They also had to pay him for the next 2 years. ₆Jotham's army became bigger and stronger because he lived in the right way and did what his God, the Lord, said.
