Sieve

A sieve was used to sift grain, after it had been threshed and winnowed. This was done to remove stones that might have been left among the grain. Sometimes a sieve was used for the winnowing itself.

A sieve was woven out of reeds, leather, bark or straw which were attached to a wooden ring.
