Abba
Abba is an Aramaic
Abba in the New Testament
The New Testament tells Christians that they may address God as Abba:
- Paul writes in his letters
that Christians are children of God and may therefore cry out to him, “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15 ; Galatians 4:6 , ESV). - In Mark’s Gospel
it is reported that Jesus also addressed God as “Abba, Father” (Mark 14:36 , ESV).
Abba as a form of address ties in with the image of God as father
