Attitude of Prayer
In the Old Testament we do not find a fixed attitude of prayer, nor in the New Testament. People pray, for instance:
- in a standing position with hands raised (1 Kings 8:22
); - bowed down to the ground (Ezra 10:1
); - with one’s hands folded across one’s chest (Luke 18:13
); - kneeling, with or without raising one’s hands to the heavens (Luke 22:41
).
