Apocalyptic Literature: Two World Orders

In the apocalyptic literature, two world orders are pitted against each other — the present world order against the future world order:

  • The present world order is described as evil and corrupt. Those in power are the embodiment of evil on earth and the forces of good are having a difficult time.
  • The future world order is exactly the opposite. Once evil has been eradicated, God will reign and the good will live a happy life.

The turnaround from the evil world order to God’s good world order will happen because of God’s powerful intervention. However, before that time comes, evil will first reach its peak.
