Pesalome 33:6-8NSO00Bula go Mmadi wa Bibele

This past weekend I visited the Planetarium in Cape Town with my kids. During a video presentation about the solar system, the presenter puts the size of the solar system into perspective. Did you know that the planet Neptune is 57 times larger than Earth and Jupiter 1 300 times? Also, that the sun is 1,3 million times the size of Earth?

It sounds big.

However, the sun is not the largest star in our solar system. Pollux is 700 times larger than the sun, Arcturus 17 000 times larger and UY Scuti (the largest star known to us) is 5 billion times the size of the sun.

Consider for a moment the greatness of our God, the Creator of all these stars.

In Psalm 33:6,8 we read: “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. …Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him.” In verse 13-15 and 18 we are reminded that God, the Creator of all galaxies still knows of each of us: “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth – he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do … the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love …” (NIV)

God created us to have a relationship with him. His eyes are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. May we never forget that. God bless.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for creating each of us to have a relationship with you. Help me to see you around me today. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen
