KUTOLLO 5:9-10NSO00Bula go Mmadi wa Bibele

In this October series of Verse-a-day, we talked about the names of the Godhead and how these touch our lives personally. I trust that it also led you to a deeper and more insightful spiritual understanding of who he really is.

The purpose of this last devotion for October is to celebrate the indescribable grandeur of the wonderful, superior Almighty God in meaningful words of praise. But my untrained tongue baulks. And then the Word intervenes and reveals the words of the Song to the Lamb in my spirit: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on earth.’” (Revelation 5:9-10)

Was it my imagination, or did I hear a choir of angels, the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures joining my sincere humming of a song of praise to the Lamb of God? All honour and glory belong to him!

The song of Moses, also the song of the Lamb (Revelation 15:3-4)
“Great and marvellous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

This song sings the praises of the incorruptible reputation of the Lord, God Almighty. Indeed, only those who will be victorious over the beast, his image and over the number of his name, will be able to sing this song whilst playing God-given harps.

The heavenly beings and elders bring honour, thanksgiving, and glory to God (Revelation 4)
The apostle John enters heaven on invitation of “Someone” (God) who sits on a throne. The purpose? God wants to reveal future events to him. No wonder then that he is observant of everything around him. He pays special attention to the heavenly beings and elders.

His ears are pricked up for the praise of the four living creatures who never stop saying day and night: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”(Revelation 4:8) Then the twenty-four living creatures fall down before him, lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Revelation 4:11)

Dear reader, do you often focus on the greatness of our Lord God? Do you bestow the honour due to him? If not, why not start today?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are not with you in the new heaven and earth yet, but help us to pursue, in the here and now, that which is beautiful and perfect, as well as the peace that comes from your hand. Amen
