Malachi 4
The day_of_the_Lord is near
1The Lord who rules over all says: ‘The day_of_the_Lord is near and that day will burn like fire. All the proud people and all who have done wrong will be like chaff and on that day they will burn. There will be nothing left of them. 2But the sun will shine on you who honour Me. The sun will shine on you and it will save you and heal you. You will become free and run and jump like calves that have enough food. 3On that day when I do what I want to do, you will trample the bad people. They will be like chaff that burns.’ This is what the Lord who rules over all says.
I will send the prophet Elijah to you
4The Lord says: ‘You must remember
what my servant Moses told you.
I gave him all the laws on Mount Sinai,
and the laws are for all the Israelites.
5But I will send the prophet Elijah to you
before that great day_of_the_Lord comes,
the day when all people will be afraid.
6Elijah will bring the fathers
and their children together again.
They will love each other again,
so that when I come,
I will not punish the people on earth.’
