Jesus prays to God
1After Jesus said these words to his disciples, He looked up to heaven and He prayed. He said: ‘Father, the time has come to show the people that I am also God. Then I will also show the people that You are God. 2You gave Me power over everyone so that I can give eternal_life to everyone that You gave Me. 3Eternal_life is to know You, the only true God, and to know Me, Jesus, the One that You have sent to the world. 4I showed the people that You are God when I did the work that You gave Me while I was on earth. 5Father, take Me back to You now to show the people that I am also God. Show them that I was with You and that I was also God before the beginning of the world.’
Jesus prays for his disciples
6Jesus prayed and said: ‘Father, You have given Me some of the people in the world and I have shown them who You are. They are your people. You gave them to Me and they did what You told them to do. 7Now they know that everything I have comes from You. 8I told them every word that You gave Me, and they have accepted your words. They know and they are sure that I came from You. They believe that it was You who sent Me to the world.
9I pray for the people that You gave Me. I don't pray for the people of the world. Yes, I pray for those that You gave Me because they belong to You. 10Everything and everyone who belongs to Me also belongs to You. And everything and everyone who belongs to You also belongs to Me. They show that I am God.
11They will stay in the world but I will not stay in the world for long. I am coming to You, holy Father. You gave your name to Me. I ask that You will protect them with your name. Then they will work together as one, just as You and I work together as One. 12I have protected them with the name that You gave Me while I was with them. I have kept them safe. Not one of them was lost, except the one who had to be lost because the Old_Testament said that it would happen.
13Now I am coming to You. I pray all these things while I am in the world, because I want to make the people that You have given Me happy. I want them to be really happy as I am really happy. 14I have told them what You have told Me and that is why the people of the world hate them, because the believers do not belong to the world, just like I also do not belong to the world.
15I am not asking You to take the believers out of the world. I ask You to protect them from Satan. 16They do not belong to the world, just like I do not belong to the world. 17What You say is the truth. Use this truth to make them willing to work for You. 18You have sent Me to the people of the world and I have also sent the believers to the people of the world. 19I consecrate Myself to You. I am the Sacrifice so that the believers can be consecrated to live and work for You.’
Jesus prays for all the believers
20Jesus prayed and said: ‘Father, I do not pray only for these believers. I also pray for everyone who will believe in Me because these believers will tell them about Me. 21I pray that they will all work together as one. Then they will be with Us, as You are with Me and I am with You. Then the people of the world will believe that You have sent Me to the world.
22You have honoured Me and said that I am also God and so I have honoured my followers and given them eternal_life. Now they can work together as We work together. 23I will be with them and You will be with Me. Then they will really work together and the people of the world will know that You have sent Me to the world. They will also know that You love the people that You gave Me. You love them as much as You love Me.
24Father, I am coming to heaven and I want the people that You gave Me to be with Me. Then they will see that I am also God. You gave Me this honour because You loved Me even before the beginning of the world. 25Righteous Father, the people of the world do not know You, but I know You, and the people that You gave Me know that You have sent Me to the world. 26I have shown them who You are and I will keep on doing it so that your love that You have for Me will be in their hearts. And I will be with them.’
