A song to praise the Lord
1Lord, You are my God.
I will honour and praise your name,
because You have done miracles.
You have done what You decided
and planned long ago.
That is what You did.
2Yes, You have destroyed the big city.
The city that had strong walls
is now only a heap of stones.
The strong city of the enemies
is no longer a city,
and no one will build that city again.
3The nation that was strong
will now honour You.
The cruel people of that city will fear You,
4-5because poor people who had
lots of problems could flee to You.
Cruel people attacked us.
Their breath was like a rain storm
in winter time.
It was like the hot sun in the dry desert.
But You were a place where poor people
were safe in the rain storm.
You were like a shadow when
the sun burnt down on them.
You made the cruel enemies
stop singing and shouting.
You were like a cloud that made a shadow
to stop the sun from burning down on us.
The Lord will wipe away our tears
6‘The Lord who rules over all
will give a great feast on this mountain.
There will be very good food
and the best wine.
There will be good meat and pure wine.
7On this mountain the Lord will take away
the cloth that covers the nations.
8He will take away death forever.
Yes, the Lord will wipe away
the tears from all people's faces.
No one on earth will keep on
mocking the people of the Lord.’
This is what the Lord said.
9On that day people will say:
‘This is our God. We believed
that He would save us and He did.
He is the Lord, and we believe in Him.
We will be happy and rejoice,
because He saved us.’
10Yes, the hand of the Lord
will protect this mountain.
But He will trample the Moab people
like someone who tramples chaff
in a hole full of manure.
11The Moab people will
row with their hands
like someone who swims in water.
They will try to save themselves,
but the Lord will pull them down.
12Moab people, the Lord will break down
the strong walls of your city.
The walls will fall to the ground
and they will lie in the dust.
