Genesis 5

_1-2Here are the names of Adam's children and descendants.

When God made man and woman, He made them like Himself to look after the earth and to rule in the place of God. God blessed them and He said that they were human_beings.

₃When Adam was 130 years old, he had another son. This son was like Adam and his name was Seth. ₄After Seth was born, Adam lived for another 800 years and he had other sons and daughters. ₅Adam was 930 years old when he died. ₆When Seth was 105 years old, he had a son. His name was Enosh. ₇After Enosh was born, Seth lived for 807 years. Seth also had other sons and daughters. ₈Seth was 912 years old when he died.

₉When Enosh was 90 years old, he had a son. His name was Kenan. ₁₀Enosh also had other sons and daughters. ₁₁Enosh was 905 years old when he died. ₁₂When Kenan was 70 years old, he had a son. His name was Mahalalel. ₁₃Kenan also had other sons and daughters. ₁₄Kenan was 910 years old when he died. ₁₅When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he had a son. His name was Jared. ₁₆Mahalalel also had other sons and daughters. ₁₇Mahalalel was 895 years old when he died.

₁₈When Jared was 162 years old, he had a son. His name was Enoch. ₁₉Jared also had other sons and daughters. ₂₀Jared was 962 years old when he died. ₂₁When Enoch was 65 years old, he had a son. His name was Methuselah. ₂₂After Methuselah was born, Enoch lived as God wanted for 300 years. He also had other sons and daughters. ₂₃Enoch lived on earth for 365 years. ₂₄Enoch served God, and he loved God very much. Later he was no longer on earth, because God took him away to be with Him.

₂₅When Methuselah was 187 years old, he had a son. His name was Lamech. ₂₆Methuselah also had other sons and daughters. ₂₇Methuselah was 969 years old when he died. ₂₈When Lamech was 182 years old, he had a son. ₂₉Lamech named him Noah and he said: ‘We work hard with our hands for food, because the Lord has cursed the earth. This son, Noah, will help us so we can rest after we have had to work so hard.’

₃₀Lamech also had other sons and daughters. ₃₁Lamech was 777 years old when he died. ₃₂When Noah was 500 years old, he had 3 sons. Their names were Shem, Ham and Japheth.
