Ezekiel 35
The Lord will destroy the land of Edom
1The Lord talked to me and He said: 2‘Son of man, you must look towards the land of Edom and prophesy_against them. 3You must say: “The Lord God says: Mount Seir, I am your enemy. I will put out my hand against you and I will destroy you so that no one will be able to live on you. 4I will make your cities heaps of stones and you will become a place where no one can live. You will know that I am the Lord.
5I will do it because you were always an enemy of the Israelites, from the beginning. You helped their enemies to kill my people on that day when they suffered badly, when I punished them for the last time.” ’
6The Lord God says: ‘I will make you full of blood. There will always be blood flowing in you because you loved to kill people. There will always be blood flowing on your ground. This is sure, as sure as I live. 7I will destroy Mount Seir, and no one will be able to live there. I will cause everyone to die who goes to that mountain. 8The dead people will lie everywhere on the mountains of Edom. The dead people will cover the mountains. The people who have died in war will be all over your hills and valleys and in your rivers. 9I will make Edom a place where people will never live again. No one will live in your cities. You will know that I am the Lord.
10I will do it because you said: “Those 2 nations and 2 lands, Israel and Judah, will now be mine. We will take it for ourselves.”
But I, the Lord, was with them.’ 11That is why the Lord God says: ‘I will do the same to you as you did to them when you were angry and when you wanted to take their lands for yourself because you hated them. They will see who I am when I punish you. This is sure, as sure as I live. 12You will know that I am the Lord. I heard when you said bad things about the mountains_of_Israel. You said: “No one is living there now. The Lord has given those mountains to us to eat.”
13You boasted, and you said a lot of bad things about Me and I heard what you said.’
14The Lord God says: ‘Edom, I will make you a place where no one can live. When I do that, the whole world will rejoice. 15You were also happy when the land_of_Israel became a place where no one could live. I will do the same to you. Mount Seir and the land of Edom will become a place where no one can live. They will know that I am the Lord.’
