Ezekiel 25
A prophecy_against the Ammonites
1The Lord talked to me and He said: 2‘Son of man, you must look towards the Ammonites and prophesy_against them. 3Tell the people of Ammon: “You must listen to what the Lord God says. The Lord says: You were happy because the enemies made my temple impure when they destroyed the land_of_Israel and when the people of Judah became prisoners in Babylon. 4That is why I will make the people of the East defeat you and let them come to live in your land. They will put up their tents among you and they will eat your fruit and drink your milk. 5I will make the town of Rabbah a field where camels can lie down and eat and your land will become a place where sheep and goats can lie down. You will know that I am the Lord.”
6Yes, the Lord God says: “You were so happy that you clapped your hands and stamped your feet when the land_of_Israel suffered, because you hate them. 7That is why I will put out my hand against you and I will punish you. I will bring other nations to catch you and take you away as plunder. I will take you away from among the nations and I will make you disappear and I will destroy you and you will all die. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” ’
A prophecy_against the Moabites and Ammonites
8The Lord God says: ‘The people of Moab and Seir said that the people of Judah are the same as all the other nations. 9That is why I will open the border of the land of Moab so that the enemies can come into the land. I will open for them the towns and cities on the border, the beautiful land around the towns of Beth-Jeshimoth, Baal-Meon and Kiriathaim. 10I will give the lands of Moab and Ammon to the people of the East, and it will belong to them. No other nation will ever think of the Ammonites again. 11I will punish the Moabites and they will know that I am the Lord.’
A prophecy_against the Edomites
12The Lord God says: ‘The people of Edom have done a lot of bad things to the people of Judah. The Edomites are guilty because they were angry with the people of Judah. 13That is why I will put out my hand against the people of Edom to punish them. I will cause all the people and animals in their land to die. There will be only heaps of stones left over in the land, from the town of Teman to the town of Dedan. They will all die in war. 14I will use my people, the Israelites, to punish the Edomites. I am angry and my people will do what I want them to do in the land of Edom. I want to show them that I am angry. The people of Edom will know that I am punishing them.’ This is what the Lord God said.
A prophecy_against the Philistines
15The Lord God says: ‘The Philistines have done bad things to other people. They always hated the other people and they wanted to kill them all. 16That is why I will put out my hand against the Philistines to punish them. I will cause all the Kerethite people to die and all the people along the sea will disappear. 17I am angry and I will punish them hard. They will know that I am the Lord when I punish them.’
