Ezekiel 10
Ezekiel sees the glory of the Lord
1I looked and I saw something like sapphire above the expanse in the sky over the heads of the cherub-angels, and above the cherub-angels there was something that looked like a throne. 2The Lord said to the man with the linen clothes: ‘You must go in between the wheels under the cherub-angels and take 2 handfuls of hot coals and throw the coals over the city.’
I saw the man going and doing what the Lord said. 3The cherub-angels were standing south of the temple when the man came there. A cloud covered the inner courtyard. 4The glory of the Lord went up from the cherub-angels and it went to the door of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud and the courtyard was full of the bright light of the glory of the Lord. 5The wings of the cherub-angels made a noise and people could hear it in the outer courtyard. It was like the voice of the Almighty God.
6The Lord told the man with the linen clothes to go and get burning coals from among the wheels between the cherub-angels. The man went away and he stood next to a wheel. 7One of the cherub-angels put out his hand to the fire between the cherub-angels and he took burning coals and put them in the hands of the man with the linen clothes. The man took them and he went out. 8I saw something under the wings of the cherub-angels. It looked like the hands of a man.
9Then I saw 4 wheels next to the cherub-angels. There was a wheel next to each cherub. The wheels looked like shining chrysolite. 10All the wheels looked the same and it looked like there was a wheel inside each wheel. 11The wheels could move to any side. The wheels did not turn away when they moved because all the wheels went where the front wheel went. They did not turn when they moved. 12There were eyes all over each cherub-angel's body, on his back, his hands, his wings and also on the 4 wheels. 13I heard someone say: ‘These wheels are fast turning wheels.’ 14Each cherub-angel had 4 faces. The first face was the face of a cherub, the 2nd face was the face of a man, the 3rd face was the face of a lion and the 4th was the face of an eagle.
15The cherub-angels went up into the air. They were the same living_beings that I had seen at the Kebar River. 16When the cherub-angels moved, the wheels next to them also moved. When the cherub-angels went up into the air with their wings, the wheels did not turn away. They stayed next to the cherub-angels. 17When the cherub-angels stood still, the wheels also stood still and when the cherub-angels went up into the air, the wheels also went up. The spirits of the living_beings were in the wheels.
18The glory of the Lord went away from the door of the temple and it stayed above the cherub-angels. 19I saw how the cherub-angels lifted up their wings and went up into the air. When they went, the wheels went with them. They went to the door of the gate east of the temple and they stood there. The glory of the King, the God of Israel, was above them.
20These were the same living_beings that I had seen under the God of Israel at the Kebar River. I knew they were cherub-angels. 21Each cherub-angel had 4 faces and it looked like there were hands under their wings, like the hands of a man. 22Their faces looked like the faces that I had seen at the Kebar River. Each cherub-angel went straight forward.
