Everyone in heaven is happy
1After these things I heard something in heaven. It was like the voices of a lot of people. They said:
‘We praise our God, because He saved us.
He is King, and He is very strong.
2We praise Him because
He always does what is true and right.
He punished Babylon, the big prostitute.
She lived immorally and
she made all the people on earth bad.
She killed the people who served God.
But God punished her.’
3And again they said:
‘Praise the Lord.
The city of Babylon
will burn forever and ever.’
4Then the 24 elders and the 4 living_beings fell down and worshipped God, who sits on the throne. They said:
‘Amen. We praise the Lord.’
The wedding of the Lamb
5Then I heard someone from the throne who said:
‘You who serve our God,
you who respect Him,
all the children and older people,
you must praise Him.’
6Then I heard something that was like the voices of a lot of people. It was like the noise of lots of water and like loud thunder. They said:
‘We praise the Lord, because He rules.
Our God, the Almighty, rules.
7We must be happy, very happy.
Let us praise Him, our King,
because the wedding day
of the Lamb is here.
Yes, his bride has made herself beautiful.
8God said she could put on beautiful clothes,
clothes that are bright and clean.
Her beautiful clothes are the good things
that the believers
who belong to God have done.’
9Then the angel said to me: ‘You must write this down: “God has invited some people to the wedding feast when the Lamb gets married. Those people will be very happy.” ’
The angel also told me: ‘These are the words of God, and they are true.’
10Then I knelt down before the angel to worship him, but he said to me: ‘Don't worship me. I am also a servant of God, like you and your friends who believe in Jesus and what He said. Do not worship me. You must worship God. Because what Jesus said is the same as what the Spirit is saying.’
The Person on the white horse
11Then I looked into heaven. It was open and I saw a white horse. The name of the Person who was sitting on the horse was ‘He who always does what He says’ and his other name was ‘The Truth’.
Because when He judges and goes to war, He always does what is right. 12His eyes were like flames of fire and there were a lot of crowns on his head. There was a name written on Him and no one knew that name. Only He, Himself, knew that name. 13His clothes were full of blood. His name was ‘The Word of God’.
14The armies of heaven followed Him on white horses. They had beautiful clothes that were white and clean. 15A sharp sword came out of the mouth of the Person on the white horse. He will defeat the people of all the nations with the sword. He will rule with an iron_sceptre. Yes, God, who can do anything, is angry with those people. That is why the Person on the horse will punish them. He will punish them like people trampling grapes in a wine-press. 16There was a name written on the Person's clothes where his thigh was. The name was ‘King of Kings and Lord of all lords’.
17Then I saw an angel who was standing in the sun. He shouted to all the birds high up in the sky and he said: ‘All of you must come here. God will give you a lot of food to eat. 18You may eat the bodies of kings and the bodies of the generals and the bodies of important people and the dead horses and the bodies of the dead soldiers who were on the horses. Yes, you can eat the bodies of all the people, those people who are free and those who are slaves, the bodies of the children and the bodies of older people.’
19Then I saw that the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies came together. They wanted to go to war_against the Person on the white horse and against his army. 20But the Person on the white horse caught the beast and the false_prophet. This was the false_prophet who did wonderful miracles for the beast. That is how the false_prophet made people believe things that were not_true. These were the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshipped_the_idol of the beast. But the Person on the white horse threw the beast and the false_prophet into the sea of fire and sulphur. He threw them in while they were still_alive. 21The Person on the white horse killed the other people with the sword that came out of his mouth. And the birds ate their bodies until they had had enough.
