The clothes of the priest
1Bezalel and the people who helped him, made the holy clothes for Aaron as the Lord had told Moses. They made the clothes from blue, purple and red wool material. Aaron put them on when he worked in the temple.
The shoulder-cloth
2They made the shoulder-cloth from gold, from blue, purple and red wool material and good linen. 3They took gold and beat it with a hammer until it was flat and then cut it into thin pieces of golden threads. They took these golden threads and sewed them onto the blue, purple and red wool material and linen. 4They fastened the front and back parts of the shoulder-cloth on the corners. 5They made a belt to go with the shoulder-cloth and made it from the same material. They made it from gold, from blue, purple and red wool material and good linen, as the Lord had told them. 6They took onyx and they set the gemstones in gold. They wrote the names of Jacob's 12 sons on the gemstones. They wrote the names like an artisan writes on a ring. 7They fastened the onyx onto the shoulder straps of the shoulder-cloth. The gemstones showed that the Lord was always thinking of the 12 tribes_of_Israel. Bezalel and the people did everything as the Lord had told Moses.
The breast-piece
8They made a breast-piece in the same way as they made the shoulder-cloth. They used gold and blue, purple and red wool material and good linen. 9The breast-piece was square and folded over so that it was double. It was one span long and one span wide. 10They put 4 rows of gemstones onto the breast-piece. In the first row was a carnelian, a chrysolite and a beryl. 11In the 2nd row was a turquoise, a sapphire and an emerald. 12In the 3rd row was a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst. 13In the 4th row was a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper. They set the gemstones in gold. 14There were 12 stones, one stone for each son of Jacob. They were also for the names of the 12 tribes_of_Israel. They wrote a name on each gemstone as an artisan writes a name on a ring.
15They made small chains from pure gold for the breast-piece 16and they made 2 pieces of gold with pictures on them, and 2 golden rings. They put the rings on the 2 upper corners of the breast-piece. 17They fastened the 2 golden chains to these 2 rings. 18They fastened the other 2 ends of the chains to the 2 pieces of gold with the pictures on them and sewed them onto the straps on the front of the shoulder-cloth. 19They also made 2 golden rings and they sewed them onto the bottom 2 corners of the breast-piece, on the inside of the shoulder-cloth. 20They also made 2 other golden rings and they fastened them to the 2 shoulder straps of the shoulder-cloth, above the belt. 21Then they took a blue cord and tied the rings of the breast-piece to the rings of the shoulder-cloth. It was above the belt of the shoulder-cloth so that the breast-piece was fastened to the shoulder-cloth. They did everything as the Lord had told Moses.
The clothes for the priest
22They made the robe for the shoulder-cloth from one piece of blue wool material. 23In the middle was an opening and there was a strong hem around the opening so that it would not tear. 24They made pictures of pomegranates from blue, purple and red wool material and good linen. They sewed the pomegranates onto the hem of the robe. 25They made bells from pure gold and they sewed the bells between the pomegranates. 26There was a bell next to each pomegranate on the hem of the robe. The priest had to put on these clothes when he went to work in the temple. They did it as the Lord had told Moses.
27They made coats for Aaron and his sons from linen. 28They made a turban and headbands from linen and trousers from good linen. 29They made the belt from good linen and from blue, purple and red wool material, as the Lord had said. 30They made a flower from pure gold for the turban and they wrote on it like an artisan writes on a ring. They wrote: ‘Consecrated to God.’
31They fastened the flower with a blue cord of wool and they did everything as the Lord had said.
They finish the work
32They finished all the work at the tent of the Lord, the tent where the Lord appeared to the Israelites. They made everything exactly as the Lord had told Moses. 33They brought the tent of the Lord and everything with it to Moses.
There were hooks, frames, crossbars, poles and stands, 34the coverings of sheepskin that they had coloured red, the soft leather, the curtains, 35the covenant box where the 10 commandments had to be kept, the carrying poles and the lid, 36the table and everything with it, the sacrificial bread, 37the lamp-stand from pure gold and the lamps and everything with it, the olive oil for the lamps, 38the golden incense-altar, the anointing-oil, the incense, the curtain for the door of the tent, 39the bronze burnt-offering altar and the bronze nets and carrying poles and everything with it, the wash basin and the stand, 40the curtains for the courtyard, the poles and the stands, the curtain for the door, the ropes, pegs and everything they needed when they worked at the tent of the Lord, where the Lord appeared to the people of Israel, 41the clothes they had to put on when they worked in the temple, the holy clothes for Aaron, the priest, and the clothes for his sons when they worked as priests.
42The Israelites made everything as the Lord had told them. 43Moses looked at everything they had made and he saw that they had made it well, exactly as the Lord had told them. Then Moses blessed them.
